Ghulam Haider Foundation supports students in their early stages of development who are pursuing a career in music or film with it’s Children of Sound Fund.
Through the Mahmooda and Khurshid Haider Fund, the foundation also supports various charitable organizations which provide basic necessities to needy children.
ABOUT MASTER GHULAM HAIDER
Ghulam Haider (1908 – 9 November 1953), also known by the honorary title Master Ghulam Haider, was a music composer who worked in India and Pakistan in the film industry from 1934 - 1953.
He changed the face of Indian film songs by combining popular raags with the verve and rhythm of Punjabi music. He was a pioneer in raising the status of film music directors and well known for identifying singing talent.
Although he is best known for giving Lata Mangeshkar her first big break, he also mentored other playback singers. Noor Jehan, Shamshad Begum and Surinder Kaur, would all go on to have remarkable careers.
